Want to learn to ski – update your technique – or get valuable tips?
Take a look at this handout that is given out at the lesson sessions – lots of great information for skiers! Ski Lesson Handout
2017 Lesson Schedule
Our three certified instructors, Doug Campbell, Wren Gilgan and Gunter Hoehne will be conducting a series of lessons in the classic technique. Lessons will be held on three consecutive Saturdays in January – the 7th, 14th and 21st starting at 10 am. Please arrive early if you are renting skis. The lessons will last for 1.5 to 2 hrs depending on weather and your stamina!
In addition to these sessions will be three Tuesday afternoon practice sessions (or a make-up session if you missed a class). This will give you more time to practice the skills you learned on Saturday. These sessions will be held on January 10th, 17th and 24th starting at 4:30 pm and will last about 1 to 1.5 hours.
Once you have mastered these skills, there will be two trail adventures in February – Saturday the 4th and Saturday the 18th. A great time to put all your lessons to practical use! They will start at 10 am for a 1.5 to 2 hour duration. And then you will be all ready for a ski in the Lakes Loppet…
The fee for the full session is $60 for members and $120 for non-members.
All non-members must pay the day-use fee of $10. Ski rentals are available at a reduced rate of $10 per day or there is a seasonal rate of $60. Please click on this link for more information on our rental skis and contact information for Harriet Larsen.
Make sure you show up early enough to get your skis waxed up for the session!
For further information on the lessons or to pre-register, please contact Doug at 250-692-7300 or email him.
Are you interested in becoming an Instructor?
We can arrange to have a Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors Level One course held at OSC if we can get at least 8 people interested. It would be a full weekend course and the fee is approximately $300. It is great for improving your own technique plus it gives you all of the skills needed to teach adult classes. Please talk to Doug Campbell if you are interested (phone or email using the info found on this page).
Would you prefer to have a private lesson?
Doug would be happy to arrange a private lesson with you that may be at a more convenient time as long as there is an instructor available. A fee would be charged per hour. Please contact him if you are interested to set up a time.
We are conducting a survey to see what skiers might want.
Please fill in this questionnaire and press submit. Then we can build our program to meet the needs of our members!
